What the service covers

The City lists stations on Labieux Road and at Chartwell Road and MacMillan Road in Cedar. They provide treated potable water as short-term relief for people or businesses without adequate access; the source says this is not an essential service.

The City is not responsible for water quality after it leaves the station. The location list gives road names rather than a verified accessible entrance or numbered fill bay. Use the official station guide for operating details.

Apply and pay

Email water.resources@nanaimo.ca with subject Water Filling Station Card Request. Include business name if relevant, contact name, address, telephone and email. Typical processing is three to five business days.

After approval, the City emails account and pickup instructions. Collect the FOB in person at 411 Dunsmuir Street and pay the non-refundable fees. Application processing and one card are $50; each additional or replacement card is $20. Water is $20.72 per 1,000 imperial gallons from January 1, 2026.

Connect and manage the account

The dispensing port is a two-inch male grooved stainless-steel A200 camlock. Bring a correctly sized two-inch female camlock coupler with arms. A generic garden-hose connector is not the specified fitting.

Manage and top up the account at water.simcom.tech using the provided login. The source says Firefox is required. Do not idle while filling or waiting; noise complaints can lead to card time restrictions.
