Meeting type and request
Council generally meets the first and third Monday at 7 p.m. in Shaw Auditorium, Vancouver Island Conference Centre, 80 Commercial Street. The City calendar controls actual dates. Special public-hearing meetings generally use the third Thursday at 7 p.m.

Speaking and materials
Every speaker gets five minutes. No more than four delegations are allowed on non-agenda items. Multiple delegations from the same group on the same topic are combined under one five-minute limit. The Corporate Officer screens requests.
Presentations must be PowerPoint or PDF with slides in order. Arrive ten minutes early for technical setup. In-person presenters receive a remote; electronic participants ask staff to advance slides and cannot share their screen.

Participation is public
Public meetings are streamed and recorded for later viewing. Speaking makes personal information in the presentation public, including your image, name, address or opinions. Avoid disclosing another person’s information.
For special meetings on bylaw contraventions or remedial action, the Chair offers attending property owners an opportunity to speak. Those owners only need a delegation request for electronic participation. Ask Legislative Services at 250-755-4405 or Legislative.ServicesOffice@nanaimo.ca about the correct route.
